Over the past several weeks, I’ve been building out training for people who want to use ChatGPT and other generative AI tools to create content in their own personal style.
A lot of people are diving into AI generated content with gusto, signing up for services and purchasing tools that promised to crank out massive amounts of compliant blog posts, articles, social media posts, etc. – even videos – so they can establish their online presence.

The thing is, all of those tools get expensive after a while. Plus, the content they produce is often obviously AI – generated. There are AI content checkers that flag work that is not 100% human generated, although they often give false positives and are notoriously unreliable . More worrying, however, is that people can tell when something was generated by AI. There’s just something about it that doesn’t sit quite right.
Now, AI is becoming more “human” all the time, but still… I’m not sure the AI will ever be able to fully replicate someone’s own personal style. We’re human. We change. Our style can change depending on our moods and our perspectives, which also are very changeable.
Ultimately, the real damage is not in who you’re annoying, but what are you doing to your brand. If you’re style is inconsistent across different platforms, and posts don’t really sound like you, you can lose a bit of credibility. And that’s an issue.
The good news is, there’s a pretty straightforward fix for all of this. Instead of buying tools that hurt your brand more than they help it and that cost you extra money you can learn to train AI to sound like you, based on the content you have. And then, after you generate your content, You take that first draft, which should be pretty close to your style, and then you quickly edit that to really truly make it sound like you, because it is you.
You’re basically going from the role of a staff writer to an editor in chief, and AI is your staff. No publisher lets books go out without a thorough editing – even books by famous authors – so as the editor and chief of your content, you’ll be in good company.
It is so important for people to realize these points. It’s so disputing, seeing so much mediocre content being cranked out at scale, when a simple solution that’s also free is right within reach. in fact, it’s kind of become a personal mission of mine to tell people over and over, until they just can’t stand it anymore, that they don’t have to spend good money on a tool that’s going to do a bad job.
I really need to get the word out, and I really need to get people trained. So like so many other coaches and consultants these days, I made a little course. It can quickly walk someone through what they need to know generate a steady stream of content in their style, using free AI tools.
The course has five pages of instructional text, some of it fairly detailed, and a couple of videos. And now, as a compliment, there is an instructional assistant that I created, using the text and transcripts of the videos.
I’m practicing what I preach about leveraging content across multiple formats – turning text and video into on-demand interaction. I’ve taken my high value content, which people would normally need to spend time reading and watching, and I’ve put them into an on-demand format the people can interact with and find out the interest to exactly their questions. If they already know how to do some of the steps, they don’t have to read through superfluous information. And if they want to drill down a little deeper into some of the topics, the AI would help them better understand what I’m talking about. This solves a whole bunch of issues all at once.
First, it’s a timesaver. People don’t need to sit through extended videos, waiting and watching for the really topics for them. I will bring them exactly the information they need, when they need it. That fact alone makes the interactive assistant format uniquely valuable.
I don’t have to figure out every single thing that they might possibly need to know. I also don’t need to structure it precisely in a way that’s going to match their learning style. I don’t need to be a mind reader, I don’t need to master a whole bunch of special pedagogical techniques. I simply structure all the information I have in a way that is meaningful and can be ingested by the AI, and I let the user interactions serve up the right information at the right time in the right way.
People don’t have to keep clicking around from page to page looking for references to things they may have read on a different page in a different paragraph. They don’t have to look around for anything. They could just ask the assistant what they need to know, and it will tell them.
I can update the content on an as needed basis adding in additional detail for the instruction assistant without having to go in and revamp all the other documentation. And if I do end up adding more content to the assistant that should go in the course, I can use the assistant to generate the updated text. This can be a huge time saver. AI isn’t writing the content for me, it’s simply helping me to reformat it and regenerate it more easily.
The instruction is done in my style and my “voice“. I train my instructional assistant to use the style from my videos, so it actually sounds like me talking to people. It’s not just some impersonal robot spewing out stuff it finds. It’s a tuned and trained Form of intelligence that’s doing exactly what I’m asking it to All right here we go.
There are probably more benefits to all of this, which will be revealed overtime and use. Bottom line, converting your video Contant into interactive instruction can be hugely powerful and impactful, and it can dramatically increase the reach and the depth of coaches and consultants who do much of their mentoring or content delivery in a video format.
For coaches and consultants who produce a steady stream of written content, the interactive assistant format is also pretty phenomenal. Not only can people more easily search for what they’re looking for, but AI will give it to them in a way that’s meaningful, that they can interact with, and that can be fine-tuned to their needs – it makes your valuable assets that much more valuable – super relevant, engaging, and impactful.
